We saw the Extruded Wood Vase by Ant ID Inc at the Toronto Interior Design show earlier this year. The Extruded Wood Vase series is part of ANT’s most current research into high-tech materials and efficient manufacturing processes. Initiated in 2004, this long-term research project lead to a material called ‘plasticized wood’ a name that references the final properties of solid wood that has gone through a new production process. The result is solid stocks of wood that can be bent into incredibly tight and complex radius’ – by hand. ANT I.D. Inc., based out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is a design studio that specializes in creating contemporary furniture, home accessories, lighting and interior environments for domestic and international clients.
