洛维斯·科林斯早年间，在巴黎和慕尼黑学习绘画创作，之后又加入了当时的柏林艺术行会，这时是洛维斯·科林斯的作品的早期时代，作品的风格也很鲜明独特，崇尚自然主义，但是随着社会背景的改变，发生了一些事情，使得他的作品的风格也有所改变，逐渐变成了印象派画派，这之后的作品大都描绘了圣经中的一些场景，此外还经常创作一些人体油画。
