西浦大事记 Milestones 2015

今年以来，西浦办了好几件大事儿，主页君稍作总结，与大家一起分享大学成长的喜悦。

1，太湖新城研究院

事情是这样的~~

作为一所具有鲜明教育特色的新型国际化大学，西浦聚集了国内外众多优秀人才，在环境科学、城市规划与建筑设计、计算机科学、电子电气、国际金融、商业与社会人文等方面拥有多学科的国际化师资及研究团队。

吴江太湖新城作为苏州一核四城规划的重要组成部分，对城市品牌提升、产业布局优化、社会管理创新等有着迫切的需求。

强强联手，一拍即合……咳咳，言归正传。

为更好地依托西交利物浦大学的国际化平台及多学科的合作研究基础，双方在去年10月底达成了合作意向，并于10月31日下午共同签订了共建“西浦吴江太湖新城研究院”协议。今年上半年，双方又经过课题调研、会议探讨、现场踏勘等方式，进行了深入沟通，并最终形成了具体合作方案。

所以，将来可以在太湖新城看到西浦的身影啦！

2，政府专项资金支持，科研会更好（壕）

7月13日，苏州工业园区科技发展局、苏州独墅湖科教创新区管委会与西交利物浦大学签署共建科技创新平台合作协议。

这个协议是干吗的呢？今后，苏州工业园区将全面支持西浦建立与园区产业发展、创新创业紧密结合的科技创新平台，积极参与园区科技创新支撑体系建设，加快提升学校的科技创新能力。

还是不明白啥意思？也就是说，来自园区的专项资金将用于支持西浦科技创新平台建设，包括西浦国际创新港、西浦国际技术转移中心和11个国际前沿研究院建设。

3，西浦附校成立

知道吗？西浦除了研究院，现在还有附属学校啦！西交利物浦大学附属学校于今年5月正式成立，与常见的大学附属学校不同，西浦附校的成立是通过收购苏州老牌私立学校——蓝缨学校完成的。

此次并购的蓝缨学校，校园是整个华东地区最大的生态校园，背靠石湖、旺山，拥有很好的外部自然环境和内部绿化环境。

西浦希望将自己的教育理念和文化向基础教育阶段延伸，在基础教育领域探索中西融合的、适合未来发展趋势和需求的国际化教育新品牌。“教育要从娃娃抓起”，国际化的教育当然也要从娃娃抓起！

We’ve had a great year so far. Here are just a few of our achievements in 2015!

1, XJTLU opens a research institute in Taihu New City

A collaborative agreement between XJTLU and Taihu New City has created a research institute that will use the University’s international expertise and research strength in urban strategic planning and architectural design.

The XJTLU-Wujiang Taihu Research Institute officially launched in August and will focus on developing Taihu New City’s brand internationally, promoting tourism, and integrating its urban and ecological development.

Located within Suzhou’s Wujiang district, Taihu New City is a core part of Suzhou’s urban plan. Home to more than 200,000 residents the area has two districts and a tourism resort.

2, Agreement will enhance research

Science and technology research at XJTLU was been given a boost with the signing of a major cooperative agreement in July that will create a world-class platform for innovation in Suzhou.

As part of the agreement between XJTLU, Suzhou Dushu Lake Education and Innovation District (SEID) and Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) Technology Bureau, the XJTLU Sci-Tech Innovation Platform will create 11 research institutes alongside a technological transfer centre and an innovation hub.

Research conducted will focus on areas that are key to enhancing innovation and entrepreneurship in Suzhou and Jiangsu.

3, Creating global citizens

XJTLU announced the establishment of the XJTLU Affiliated School in Suzhou this May. The school, which will admit students from kindergarten to high school level, aims to open students’ mind from an early age and support them in becoming global citizens.

The school will use XJTLU’s platform to offer a high standard of international-oriented education and develop new models for educating pre-university students. It will also help support the economic development of Wuzhong district in Suzhou.
