Speech at Honder College, Inner Mongolia University

Distinguished Guests,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

At the outset, I would like to thank Honder College, Inner MongoliaNormalUniversity for inviting me to the opening ceremony of the new session and for giving me an opportunity to share my thoughts. I am delighted to be here among the friends of Pakistan in this beautiful city of Hohhot.

Taking this opportunity, I would like to welcome the Chinese and Pakistani students who have joined Honder College this year. Wish you all the very best in your future pursuits. The arrival of new students hasincreased the number of Pakistanisstudying in Honder College to 26. In future, we hope that more Pakistanis will be given an opportunity to study in this prestigious university.

I would also like to congratulate the students who are receiving awards today. Well done and keep it up.

Here I would like to address Pakistani students. We, at the Embassy expect nothing less than the best from you, not only in your academic studies but also in your conduct as a representative of Pakistan and a friend of China.

Pakistan is located at the confluence of South, West and Central Asia. With its immense geographic expanse, rich natural resources,youth bulge and agrowing middle class,Pakistan plays a critical role in peace, stabilityand development of the region.

Pakistan’s Foreign Policy is focused onseeking to build peaceful relations with all countries, especially its neighbours and pursue the path of economic prosperity. Pakistan does not believe in forming alliances against any country, rather we want to forge partnerships with other countries for the mutual benefit of the people.

Pakistan has made serious efforts to promote peaceful neighbourhood based on the principles of mutual respect, non-interference and equality. Pakistan’s decisive and resolute action to counter terrorism and extremism has not only led to drastic improvement in security situation but has also helped in the economic revivalof the country.

In order to make Pakistan an economically developed country, we are focusing on regional connectivity and regional cooperation. Pakistan aims to become a regional hub for trade and commerce. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under the Belt and Road Initiative of Chinese President Xi Jinping,provides us the right platform to achieve this goal. CPEC has the potential to benefit not only Pakistan and China but the entire region.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Under CPEC, the two countries have achieved good progress on projects relating to energy, infrastructure, development ofspecial economic zones and industrial parks. A few early harvest projects, relating to energy have already been completed while others are expected to be completed by 2018. Gwadar, which is the core of CPEC, is set to become a major international port which will benefit both Pakistan and China.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations,Pakistan and China have enjoyed warm and friendly relations. Pakistan and China are good neighbors and strategic partners. The people of the two countries have great respect and admiration for each other and value this relationship.

Pakistan and China share a convergence of views and interests in maintaining regional peace and stability and economic cooperation. The friendship between Pakistan and China has been a model in inter-state relationships. As “all weather strategic cooperative partners”, we will continue to cement our multi-dimensional ties to the greater benefit of our people and work together to promote peace and stability in our region.

Educational cooperation and people-to-people connectivity is a crucial aspect of the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and China The two sides are working together to enhance the interaction between scholarsandbusiness community. Currently around 22,000 Pakistani students are studying in China.

Honder Collegehas a Pakistan Studies Center which is performing a commendablerole in bringing the people of the two countries closer. Here I would like to make a special mention of President Mr. Zhou Yushu and Professor Tang Jun. They are respected friends of Pakistan and we appreciate their untiring efforts.

This is the Asian century. China’s peaceful rise and economic preeminence is contributing to a new, vibrant and economically prosperous Asia.As friends, we need to continue to make our bonds stronger for the mutual benefit of the people of our two countries and the region.

尊敬的鸿德学院周玉树院长，各位来宾，女士们，先生们

首先,感谢内蒙古师范大学鸿德学院，邀请我参加此次新生开学典礼，与各位分享我的一些体会。我很高兴，在美丽的呼和浩特与巴基斯坦的朋友们见面

我想借此机会，欢迎今年到鸿德学院学习的大一新生和巴基斯坦留学生，祝大家前程似锦。随着新生的加入，鸿德学院的巴基斯坦留学生人数已经多达26人，我希望，日后会有更多的学生有机会来到鸿德学院这所优秀的大学进行学习。

同时，我向今天受表彰的学生表示衷心的祝贺，你们表现优秀，希望能再创佳绩！

我想对巴基斯坦留学生讲几句话。大使馆对你们寄予厚望，不仅希望你们学业有成，而且希望你们能代表巴基斯坦，成为中巴友好使者。

巴基斯坦位于南亚、西亚与中亚的汇合处，地域辽阔，资源丰富，社会中层蓬勃发展，

巴基斯坦的外交原则坚持与他国，尤其是邻国，发展和平关系，共同繁荣。巴基斯坦无意与任何国家联盟，对抗他国，但我们真诚的希望与其他国家同舟共济，为百姓谋福利，创发展。

巴基斯坦坚持相互尊重，平等互利，互不干涉的原则，努力与各国发展睦邻友好的和平关系。在反恐怖主义极端主义方面，巴基斯坦行动果断，成果显著，不仅极大地改善了地区安全形势，而且促进了经济复兴。

为推动巴基斯坦经济发展，我们高度重视区域联通与区域合作。巴基斯坦希望成为地区商业与易贸的中心，在习总书记提出的一带一路的倡议中，中巴经济走廊为实现这一目标提供了良好的平台。中巴经济走廊有巨大发展潜力，不仅有利于中巴两国，而且对于整个区域都有重大意义。

女士们，先生们，

随着中巴经济走廊的推进，两国正在能源，基础设施和开发区等诸多领域迈出可喜的步伐。目前，一些早期收获项目已经竣工，至2018年，会有更多的早期收获项目竣工。中巴经济走廊的核心工程，瓜达尔港，将成为重要的国际港口，并对中巴两国带来巨大利益。

女士们先生们，自从中巴两建立外交关系后，两国一直保持着亲密的睦邻友好关系。中巴两国不仅是好邻居，同时还是亲密的战略合作伙伴，两国人民亲如兄弟，互敬互助，高度珍惜这份珍贵的友谊。

中巴两国都致力于维护区域安全与稳定，促进经济合作。中巴友谊是国家与国家关系的典范，两国是全天候战略合作伙伴，将继续深化合作，加强联系，为两国人民利益努力，为区域和平、稳定不断努力。

教育合作与民间交流是两国双边关系的重要内容。两国携手合作，不断推进学术交流

鸿德学院的巴基斯坦研究中心在加强两国人民交流领域做出了杰出贡献。在此，我要特别感谢周玉树院长和研究中心主任唐俊教授。他们是巴基斯坦尊敬的朋友，我们高度赞扬他们在推动两国交流所作出的杰出贡献。

女士们，先生们，21世纪是亚洲的世纪，中国和平崛起，经济实力显著，对建设日月异、经济蓬勃发展的亚洲，做出巨大贡献。两国人民情同手足，应加强联系，为两国人民以及地区人民的共同利益，不断努力！
