See what summer classes are like at NYU Shanghai
Applications are now open for summer 2022 courses at NYU Shanghai! There are two 6-week sessions covering a wide range of courses:
Summer Session 1 courses: May 24 - July 1 (all classes in-person)
Summer Session 2 courses: July 4 - August 12 (all classes online)
There is also a 9-week Summer Chinese Language Immersion Program covering a year of Chinese studies in just 2+ months:
Summer Chinese Language Immersion Program: May 24 - July 24 (In-person)
Who Can Apply
We welcome undergraduates who have completed at least one year of full-time undergraduate study by the start of the program. However, non-NYU Shanghai students who are not Chinese citizens may not be able to participate in summer 2022 because Chinese embassies and consulates have not yet resumed issuing short-term student visas. We are monitoring the visa situation closely and will post the updates on the website of the program (scan the QR code below).
About the Sessions
Students will engage in a comprehensive learning experience, benefiting from small-size classes and world-class faculty. Weekend trips are available for students who want to explore Shanghai’s cosmopolitan culture and historic neighborhoods.
Students may take up to 8 credits per 6-week session. All students will earn NYU credits and receive an NYU transcript after completing the courses. Students may apply to their home institutions to use NYU Shanghai credits towards their degrees.
6-Week Summer Sessions
Choose from a wide range of courses taught in English. Disciplines include math, business, computer science, interactive media arts, social science, and humanities. See below for a full listing of courses!
Faculty-led field trips are a highlight of NYU Shanghai Summer Sessions. In 2021, students from several courses went beyond the classroom and visited many areas in Shanghai and its surrounding environs to combine theory with practice, expanding understanding and learning experience.
