[设计主题]
The PROMOSEDIA INTERNATIONAL DESIGN COMPETITION - Caiazza Memorial Challenge acts as a workshop of ideas, experimentation and exploration, centring youthful creative attention on CHAIRS, a subject which seems to have been solved already in a thousand different ways.
It is not an easy challenge, because young design cadets are asked to produce ideas which are not only creative but also technically feasible and thus face the demands of manufacturers, the choice of materials and the requirements dictated by production.
The formula for the 2005 competition offers a single division for professionals under 40 and students of design, but widens entrance eligibility. To date entry was limited to young Europeans, now in its ninth year it is extended to the whole world. The terms of the competition become more restricted: not seating in general, but CHAIRS FOR INTERIORS, for residential or contract in the purest sense of the words - thus excluding seats such as stools, small divans, chaise longues etc - with particular attention to the choice of materials. The suggestions of preference for wood in designing the chair, takes into consideration the tradition of the area offering the competition, the Industrial Chair District, highly specialised in this raw material.

The 2005 Competition envisages a single outright winner, to receive a prize of 3,500 Euro (net) and the production of the prototype of the design. Furthermore, the Judges may decide to allocate up to two special recommendations.
Alongside the Competition there is the special “Section by Invitation” - co-ordinated by the architect Marco Romanelli - which will consist of six established designers under 40, already with a personal reputation in the field of furniture design, selected by important names in international design.
