Tonight's China Talks will explore how people in China make decisions that affect their own lives, how local democracy is changing and what it means for China's ongoing development.

Today's speaker, Beibei Tang has studied and worked in China, UK and Australia. Her research focusses on social and political change in reform-era China. She has undertaken extensive research on the people and cultures of China and has published research on social inequality, grassroots governance and state-society relations.
